Further to my post http://www.metalvortex.com/blog/2012/11/14/1069.html about the stupidity of the film “Prometheus”, I came across these following hilarious videos:

Honest Trailers – Prometheus
How Prometheus Should Have Ended

I don’t actually agree with everything in the above videos, but they are funny. As counterpoint, the following video attempts to answer some points of complaints about “Prometheus”:

Prometheus Actually Explained (With Real Answers)

I don’t really agree with “Prometheus Actually Explained (With Real Answers)” on quite a few key points. The thing is, the ship’s crew were dysfunctional, irrational and stupid. Using sources of materials outside of the film does not make the film better; it just means that the film was not in a fit state to be released.

The film “Prometheus” could have been so much more, so much better. The overall premise was promising but whoever wrote the script probably didn’t care about the story and who, on the face of it, I would compare to the script/screen writer(s) for Highlander 2; that isn’t a compliment! Yes, the use of the word “lost” in the title of this blog article was done on purpose, thank you very much Mr Damon Lindelof!

The tag line for Prometheus should have been “In space, no one knows how stupid you are”. Perhaps there’s an outbreak of stupid-virus on future Earth? Or even on current Earth based on the evidence of the script!

And the scariest, most alien thing in the film was the old-man makeup for Guy Pearce!

Don’t expect too much from the movie. But there is still hope that a sequel to Prometheus can be good. Perhaps, like Highlander 3 where Highlander 2 is completely ignored, Prometheus 2 can ignore everything in Prometheus ;)

Anyway, I could go on and on about Prometheus, but instead I direct you to an article written by Julian Sanchez:

Movie makers need to understand that it takes more than just special effects to make a good movie.

Bad Astronomy blog article – When a biologist teaches creationism

Or where they always bad? Anyway, sad and bad. Science-based classes need to teach science. And religions taught in classes on religion. Or is that too simple?

The deceptions, immorality and, I would add, criminal acts of discredited doctor Andrew Wakefield laid bare at http://tallguywrites.livejournal.com/148012.htmlThe Facts In The Case Of Dr. Andrew Wakefield”.The media doesn’t come out looking good either. Neither does Jim Carrey. Or Jenny McCarthy.

Remember, there are a lot of misguided, ignorant and evil people around. A lot of people got hurt. So be careful out there.

Thanks to Bad Astronomy.

Further to my recent article Chiropractor’s back off! at http://www.metalvortex.com/blog/2010/04/15/384.html regarding the British Chiropractic Association on their dropping the libel case against Simon Singh, I’ve came across an article from the excellent Ben Goldacre at http://www.badscience.net/2010/04/british-chiropractic-association-drops-shameful-libel-case-against-science-writer-who-criticised-them/ which goes into a bit more depth. Well worth a read.
