I own an Apple iPod touch (32GB). Now that the 3G version of the iPhone is out, the latest software firmware (version 2.0) for the iPod touch has also been released. The cheek of it is that Apple are trying to charge me £5.99 to obtain this firmware!
Are Apple really trying to make me regret purchasing the iPod touch?
Apple, Apple, Apple. You continue to disappoint! It’s just such greed from Apple that encourages people to modify the iPod firmware…this modified firmware allows the customer the freedom to install other software on the iPod and to break out of the restrictions imposed by Apple. “Think different”? Sure…

Thanks once again to the eagle eyes of DC’s Improbable Science, here is his article on the sham degrees that Westminster University is awarding. As DC goes on to explain, this isn’t the only university that is involved in such shambolic practices. And this isn’t just the abuse of science’s good name. I’d call it rape.
I bet Westminster University and other universities engaged in such degrees aren’t the least ashamed. They’re getting lots of money for these Mickey Mouse degrees. My ideas that univesities are there to educate seem to be old fashioned. I despair at the education system sometimes.

Well, it seems that certain forms of partnerships between universities and business can result in universities becoming corrupt both in the USA and the UK. It’s greed…pure and simple. However, I’m still clinging to my romantic notion that universities are there to educate, inspire and lead and that they’re doing so to a large extent. But then again I see that there are a lot of Mickey Mouse degrees these days with greed being the root cause.

It looks like George Lucas is milking “Star Wars” for all its worth (well, why not, he did create Star Wars even if that means the “worth” is always going down). I will remain open minded and wait to see what he comes up with. But I won’t be too surprised if this attempt ends up like all his other recent film/TV projects. Sigh.
