This performance took place on Batam Island near to a beach, Indonesia. There weren't any roads leading to this place but there was a muddy trail that we made use of with a mini-bus to get there. The performances included fire dances, jumping through burning hoops, breaking coconut shells by smashing them against there own heads and eating glass. Not yer typical West End performance I must say! I didn't feel comfortable with all this self inflicted pain and hardship that they went through for our benefit. Photo taken in December 1995.
