South America Trip – February & March 2006

South America 2006 Photos

A trip from the Atacama Desert of northern Chile to the cold, wet and windswept lands of Patagonia in Chile and Argentina.

Arid, desolate, lunar landscapes and high‑altitude volcanoes and geysers of the Atacama Desert. The busy streets of Santiago and the surrounding pleasant vineyards. The beautiful Pacific coastal towns of Vina del Mar and Valparaiso. The pioneering feel of the small towns of Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales and El Calafate. The awe‑inspiring majestic peaks and glaciers of Torres del Paine. The huge glaciers of Upsala and Spegazzini, the slow break‑up of Perito Moreno glacier, and iceberg‑littered lakes. The charms of the Tierra del Fuego town of Ushuaia and the wilds of the estancias. Glorious seafood, spit-roasted lamb, huge beef steaks. The music, dance and passion of Tango, and the splendour of Buenos Aires. Nice one!
