A trip in May 2004 to the Himalayan regions of India (Darjeeling), Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet.

Darjeeling is a fantastic way to escape from the intense heat of the Indian plains. As well as tea plantations, the place has passenger-carrying, narrow-gauge steam trains...including the famous "Toy Train". Lots of jeeps (Mahendra-made copies)...apparently people from nearby villages hire jeeps to do their shopping in Darjeeling. And a 4x4 is a real must to traverse the steep mountain roads and the odd railway lines which can all get quite wet and slippery.
